How Can You Get Involved With the Sexual Assault Crisis Centers?

The support network includes telephone hotlines, WhatsApp, and chat services, as well as face-to-face meetings when needed. Support volunteers provide emotional assistance, assess callers' needs, and offer professional guidance and referrals for further care within the centers or the community. Volunteering requires participation in a six-month training course and ongoing supervision meetings throughout the volunteer period. Volunteers can also join the accompaniment program, which involves physically accompanying survivors through legal and medical processes, including filing police complaints, investigative interviews, forensic medical exams, prosecution meetings, court hearings, social security committees, and more. The education departments of the crisis centers promote safe and healthy sexuality as the most effective strategy for preventing sexual violence. Educators and facilitators run workshops and programs for a wide range of audiences within both formal and informal educational settings. The structure of this work varies between centers—most facilitators are employed as freelancers, while some centers also accept volunteers. All facilitators must complete a months-long training course and commit to at least one year of facilitation. Read more
