Since 1998, Ta’ir Rape Crisis Center (Ta'ir) is a registered association, has been committed to providing support and guidance to survivors of rape and sexual assault, and to raising awareness and educating to prevent sexual violence.
Ta'ir serves over one million individuals residing in the lowland region south and south east of Tel-Aviv, and north of the Negev (the Shfela) – from Ashkelon and Kiryat Malachi in the south, to Lod and Ness-Ziona in the north, and Modi’in-Macabim-Reut in the east.
Ta'ir provides long-term support and guidance to survivors of sexual violence, anonymously and non-judgmentally, according to the will and needs of each survivor. Our goal is to help survivors reclaim their lives, and overcome the cycle of loneliness, self-accusation and shame. We aim to improve their well-being and their ability to cope in their everyday lives, and to allow them to choose the treatment and recovery process that suits them best.
Ta'ir acts to enhance and make accessible the existing local services for survivors of sexual assault, by educating, training and working together with the regional public services, and with professionals in the community (educators, social workers, therapists, doctors, lawyers and police investigators). Enhancing local professionals' knowledge will improve the response and treatment for survivors of rape and sexual assault.
To raise awareness and prevent sexual violence Ta'ir conducts workshops for youth in the formal education system and in informal education frameworks, as well as workshops for educators and parents. We further hold lectures in workplaces in our area about the Law for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, including trainings for those in charge of the implementation of the law at the company/organization.
Through the above we aspire to break the silence surrounding sexual violence, advance gender equality, and create a safe environment for all.
